Evan Gozali was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1972 and currently lives in New York City where he has been attending Pure Vision Arts since 2007. A former student of the Koho School of Sumi Art in Soho, New York, Gozali continues to enjoy making Japanese sumi ink paintings, a medium that involves the use of an ink stick and a grinding stone to obtain ink, which is then applied with brushes in the light touch techniques as traditional calligraphy. In addition to making sumi paintings Gozali also paints traditional landscapes. His goal is to be a career artist and his work is included in a growing number of private collections.
